How many restrooms does a wedding need?

Start with 1 restroom unit per 50 guests for the first 4 hours. Add 1 unit per 100 guests because most receptions run longer than 4 hours. Add 1 more per 100 guests for an open bar. A 150-guest wedding with 6 hours and a bar needs 7 standard units.

That is the Jack Rental Works sizing method. A restroom trailer counts differently, because its tanks are larger. The manufacturer rates a 2-stall trailer at about 150 guests for a 6-hour event and a 3-stall at about 250. Heavy drinking lowers both numbers.

Standard, deluxe, VIP suite or restroom trailer: which fits our wedding?

The choice depends on budget, look and hookups. A standard porta potty starts at $175, pre-tax. A deluxe flushing unit with a sink starts at $275. A VIP single-suite trailer starts at $695. A 2-stall trailer starts at $1,150 and a 3-stall at $1,650. Only trailers need power and water.

Does a wedding restroom trailer need power and water?

Yes. Every Jack Rental Works restroom trailer needs a standard 20-amp, 110V outlet within 100 feet and a garden-hose water spigot. With no outlet, a generator add-on starts at $95 per day. With no spigot, we quote a freshwater tank fill. Porta potties and deluxe units need neither.

  • Is there a 20-amp, 110V outlet within 100 feet of where the trailer will park?
  • Is that outlet on its own circuit, or shared with the DJ, caterer or lights?
  • Is there a garden-hose spigot within reach of a hose run?
  • Can a truck pulling a trailer reach the spot on firm, level ground?
  • Does the venue allow a generator, and where can it sit away from the ceremony?

If any answer is no, you still have choices. A generator solves power. A tank fill solves water. Or switch to deluxe flushing porta potties with sinks, which carry about 20 gallons of fresh water and need no hookups.

When should we book wedding restrooms?

Book wedding restrooms 4 to 8 weeks ahead for spring and fall dates. Those months fill first. Trailers are fewer than porta potties, so they go faster. If something falls through, same-day delivery is a backup: order by 12:00 PM Mon–Sat in Midland or Odessa for a $75 rush fee per trip.

  1. 8 weeks out. Set your guest count range and confirm power and water with the venue.
  2. 6 weeks out. Call Jack, pick your restroom mix and reserve the date.
  3. 2 weeks out. Send final guest count, a site photo and any gate code.
  4. The day before. We deliver, level the trailer, connect power and water, and test it. Friday drop is normal for a Saturday wedding.
  5. Wedding day. The restroom is stocked. Trailers have LED lights; porta potties need a battery lantern after dark.
  6. After the wedding. We pick up Monday for a weekend wedding. We do not run on Sunday, and there is no extra charge for the wait.

Where should the restrooms go at a ranch or backyard venue?

Place wedding restrooms 50 to 150 feet from the reception, out of the ceremony photos, on firm and level ground. A trailer also needs to be within 100 feet of an outlet and within hose reach of a spigot. Porta potties need a clear path about 5 feet wide for our crew.

Ranch venues

Caliche roads and locked gates are normal. Text us the gate code and a GPS pin, and tell us about any cattle guards.

Backyard weddings

A standard unit fits a 48-inch gate. A trailer usually parks in the driveway or a side lot near an outlet.

Photos and privacy

Turn doors away from the ceremony. A row of plants or a simple screen hides units from the photographer.

Night lighting

Light the path with string lights or solar stakes. Inside a porta potty, hang a battery LED light.

More questions about Wedding Restrooms and Porta Potties in Midland, TX

Do we still need handwash stations if we rent a trailer?

Not for the trailer itself. Our restroom trailers have sinks with running water. If you add standard porta potties as backup near the dance floor, plan 1 hand-washing station per 4 standard units, with a minimum of 1. A 2-sink station starts at $110, pre-tax, for up to 3 days.

Can we rent one VIP suite for the bridal party and porta potties for guests?

Yes, many couples do this. The VIP single-suite trailer starts at $695 for 1–2 days. Four standard porta potties for guests start at $175 each. That plan is $1,395, pre-tax, before handwash stations. The VIP suite still needs a 110V outlet and a hose spigot nearby.

Can you drop it off the morning of the wedding?

Yes, but most couples choose the day before. A Friday drop for a Saturday wedding gives the venue time to plug in a trailer and test the water. If morning delivery is the only option, add a timed 1-hour window for $45 so the unit arrives before the florist and caterer.

The venue's only outlet also runs the DJ. Is that a problem?

It can be. A restroom trailer needs a standard 20-amp, 110V outlet within 100 feet. Sharing that circuit with speakers, lights and a coffee urn can trip the breaker mid-reception. Ask the venue for a separate circuit. If there is none, add a generator starting at $95 per day.

Do the trailers have air conditioning for a summer wedding?

Yes. Our VIP suite and 2- and 3-stall trailers all have A/C and lights, and the VIP suite also has heat. Standard and deluxe porta potties have no A/C or electric light. For a June to August wedding in Midland, where highs often reach 95–105°F, a trailer keeps guests far more comfortable.

Can you text the quote so my parents can see it?

Yes. We text an itemized quote you can forward. It lists each restroom, any generator, delivery, pickup and 8.25% tax. Many wedding callers are not the person paying. In one batch of 50 calls we reviewed in 2026, 18 callers were calling for someone else, like a parent or the bride.
