How does porta potty rental work, step by step?
Porta potty rental with Jack Rental Works runs in 8 steps. You call for a quote, confirm the order, and prep the spot. We deliver after a driver call-ahead, service the unit, and extend the rental if needed. You request pickup, and billing stops that day. Most renters handle only 3 of those steps.
- Call or request a quote. Call (432) 239-8885, Mon–Sat 7 AM–7 PM. Jack answers live and texts an itemized quote, usually within 15 minutes. Web requests get an answer within 1 business hour.
- Confirm the order. Reply to the text or call back. Event rentals are paid at booking by card or ACH. A 28-day rental is paid at delivery.
- Prep the placement. Pick a flat spot and mark it. Unlock gates, or send codes. Tell us about anything buried in the ground.
- Delivery and call-ahead. The driver calls or texts 30 to 60 minutes out. The unit is set level, staked or strapped against wind, and stocked.
- Service. Event units are pumped at pickup. A 28-day unit gets weekly service with a dated tag on the door.
- Extension. A 28-day rental renews on its own. An event rental adds days at the daily rate when you ask.
- Pickup request. Event pickups are set at booking. On a 28-day rental, call or text when the job is done.
- Billing stops. After the first full 28-day cycle, billing is prorated by the day you ask for pickup.
Start with step 1
Call (432) 239-8885. A real person answers Mon–Sat, 7 AM–7 PM.
What happens on the first call?
The first call is short and covers 4 things. Jack asks for the address or pin, the dates, the guest or crew count, and whether food or alcohol is involved. Then Jack texts an itemized quote with the unit, days, service, delivery, pickup and 8.25% tax. That quote is easy to forward.
Not the person paying? That is common. Forward the text to your boss, pastor, or treasurer. They can call us back on the same quote.
If you do not know how many units you need, Jack sizes the order on the call. You can also run our porta potty quantity calculator before you dial.
What does our truck need to reach the spot?
Our truck needs a path about 10 feet wide to get near the spot. From the truck, the unit needs a clear path about 5 feet wide to roll into place. A standard unit is 43.5 inches wide. Gates, codes, low branches, and cattle guards should be sorted out before delivery day.
Access checklist
- Gates. Leave gates unlocked or share the combination. A 48-inch yard gate fits a standard unit, but we still need about 5 feet of clear path for the crew.
- Codes. Text gate codes, building codes, and lease gate combos with the order.
- Truck path. Keep about 10 feet of width clear for the truck to pull close. Move trailers, cars, and equipment off that path.
- Overhead. Watch for low tree limbs and low wires over the path.
- Ground. A soft lawn after rain, deep sand, or a steep slope can stop a truck. Tell us ahead.
- Cattle guards. Note every cattle guard and its width on the route to a ranch or lease. Tell us if a guard is narrow or damaged.
- Leases. Give the lease name, a GPS pin, and gate directions. Caliche roads are normal for us.

What should you mark on site before delivery?
Mark 2 things before delivery day: the exact spot for each unit, and anything under the ground nearby. Use a cone, a flag, or a chalk X for the spot. Flag sprinkler heads, drip lines, septic lids, and shallow utility lines. A texted photo with an arrow also works.
- Flat, level ground, ideally on gravel, concrete, or packed dirt.
- The door facing away from afternoon sun when possible, since summer heat speeds odor.
- The door facing where guests or the crew will walk.
- Out of the way of traffic, but close enough that our truck can reach the spot for service.
- Off a public street or sidewalk, unless the City has approved the spot.
Placing a unit in a Midland street, alley, or sidewalk generally needs City approval. Check with the City of Midland first. On private property, a permit is usually not needed.
What happens on delivery day?
On delivery day, the driver calls or texts 30 to 60 minutes before arrival. Normal delivery runs between 7 AM and 7 PM. A 1-hour window of your choice costs $45. The driver sets the unit level, stakes or straps the unit, stocks 2 or more toilet-paper rolls and sanitizer, and leaves.
Spring wind in Midland often gusts past 40 mph. That is why every unit gets staked or strapped. Tell us if the spot is fully exposed, and we tie it down harder.
Ask for a free combination lock if the unit sits in a park or an open lot. We set the code and text the code to you.
How do service and extensions work during the rental?
Every 28-day rental gets 1 service visit each week. The tech pumps the tank, scrubs and sanitizes, adds fresh deodorizer, restocks paper and sanitizer, checks the latch, and leaves a dated tag. A 28-day rental renews every 28 days with no call needed. Extra visits cost $65 per unit.
Event rentals arrive clean and stocked, with the pump-out at pickup. An event of more than 3 days, or with 250 or more guests, should add a mid-event service visit.
Crews of 10 or more in summer often need twice-weekly service, at $60 more per cycle per unit. See the long-term porta potty rental page for service schedules.
How do you end the rental and stop billing?
To end a 28-day rental, call or text (432) 239-8885 and ask for pickup. After the first full 28-day cycle, billing is prorated by the day and stops on the day you ask. Event rentals end on the pickup date set at booking. Pickups run Monday through Saturday, with no Sunday pickups.
Leave the path clear on pickup day, just like delivery day. The driver pumps the unit on site, loads the unit, and leaves the spot clean. You do not need to be there.
Billing terms, cancellation fees, and damage rules are all in our rental terms and cancellation policy.
What happens if the delivery spot is blocked?
If the truck cannot reach the marked spot, the driver calls you first. A gate code or a moved car often fixes the problem on the spot. If the unit cannot be placed safely, the driver offers the closest safe spot you approve. If no spot works, the trip is billed like a dispatched cancellation at $75.
A locked gate with no code, a car in the path, or a muddy yard are the usual causes. A good marked spot and a texted code prevent nearly all of them.
We will not set a unit on a slope or soft ground where it could tip. Safety comes before speed. Read more on porta potty placement on oilfield leases if your site is remote.
Have your spot picked out?
Call (432) 239-8885 or text a pin. Orders by noon Mon–Sat can arrive the same day.
More questions about How Porta Potty Rental Works, From Booking to Pickup
Do I need to be there for delivery or pickup?
No. You do not need to be on site if the spot is marked. Use a cone, a flag, a chalk X, or text us a photo or map pin. The driver calls or texts 30 to 60 minutes before arrival in case a gate or a code is needed.
So it just sits there after we leave?
Yes. After an event, the unit stays put until our truck comes back on the pickup day you booked. Lock it with the free combination lock if you like, and text us the code. The driver pumps the unit on site before loading it.
The GPS sends people the wrong way — will the driver call me?
Yes. Every driver calls or texts 30 to 60 minutes before arrival. If your place is hard to find, text us a map pin when you book. For a lease or ranch, add the lease name, the gate code, and any turn that GPS gets wrong.
What if we need the unit longer than planned?
On a 28-day rental, you do nothing. The rental renews every 28 days on its own, with weekly service each week. On an event rental, call or text before your pickup day. Each extra day is billed at the daily rate for that unit, starting at $20 for a standard unit.
Can you pick it up the day after the event?
Yes, as long as the day after is not a Sunday. We pick up Monday through Saturday. A Saturday or Sunday event usually gets picked up on Monday. Your event price covers up to 3 days on site, so that Monday pickup costs nothing extra.
How far ahead do I need to book?
In Midland and Odessa, an order by noon Mon–Sat can arrive the same day. For a Saturday wedding or a big event, book a week or more ahead to hold the units you need. Zone 4 towns like San Angelo and Abilene need 1 to 2 days' notice.
